Speed Camera Watch - enables you to record for future reference the position of fixed or mobile camera. Using its optional PC interface, it can also reference Gatso location data downloadable from the internet. This sophisticated design is surprisingly easy to build thanks to the use of a PIC 16F873 microcontroller. Using an embedded GPS (Global Positioning System) module, the EPE Speed Camera Watch stores the location of up to 1,000 cameras that you record for yourself when you pass by. Thus the device will warn you well in advance next time you travel through that area, by means of a bargraph and audio tone.
EPE February 2005 P136. We have been advised by Holux that the GM-21PE GPS modules are not supplied with cables. These are available for an additional £5.00 They include the connector and about 150mm of bare ended cable. The Holux UK phone number to call is 0870 321 5929 and not as quoted in EPE. Light Detector - an interesting and unusual design that uses light-emitting diodes both to detect and indicate the presence of light. Useful in many sensor or security applications. Output interface circuits are provided that let you switch e.g. relays or alarms.
Gate Alarm - a low-cost delayed action alarm. This is designed to give a "pip pip pip" tone over a small piezo disc rather than a fully fledged alarm warning, in order to indicate to the caller that they have been noticed. A deliberate delayed action confounds the caller into wondering how their presence could possibly have been detected. Battery operation, low power consumption using 4000 series CMOS.
